OUR TEAM

REALM INC partners with community organizations all across Los Angeles and San Diego County to accomplish our mission in serving foster youth.  Local churches and small groups, childcare providers, community college students and volunteers have all played a vital role in providing family support.  We also have strong collaborations with resource parents who are currently fostering and adoptive parents who have chosen to make long term commitments to our youth.  Together, we meet the urgent call to care for the orphan so that there are no orphans.  Together, we make it possible to adopt sons and daughters who are royally privileged.  


About the Director 

Yvette Speck LMFT has been serving as an educator and psychotherapist for the past 27 years in a variety of settings including hospitals, schools, drug rehabilitation facilities and group homes.  Her work has focused primarily on disadvantaged communities including the poor, minority groups, gang youth, sex trafficked children, addicts, children who have witnessed parental homicide, foster children and those who have endured severe traumas and abuses.  She spent over a decade working as a clinician at her local Children’s Hospital focusing on trauma and healing and serving children newly detained in the foster system. Working in collaboration with the court system and child welfare department, she discovered the important impact psychology plays in real world applications providing protection, lifelines, advocacy and meeting basic needs.  Outside the hospital setting, Speck served drug addicted youth living in residential treatment facilities.  Providing family-like support in this therapeutic community, she was driven to help break the chains of generational cycles of addiction.  Moving forward, Speck's journey triumphed in the heart of East Los Angeles as an educator, working hands-on with youth who had faced economic and community challenges of violence and criminality.  She found true fulfillment in helping to transform gang youth into college bound students with vision and purpose.   After years of service, Speck realized that the devastating results of insufficient family support needed attention.  Speck decided to dedicate her life to adopting children and providing family to those who have none.  Founding REALM INC non-profit organization to service these youth, Speck intertwines psychological methodology and "family-based" foundations to impact a new generation of empowered, advantaged communities.
