
Psych Internships
Need experience working in the psychological field? Are you a college student ready to gain practical experience and build your resume? Do you need supervised hours to meet licensing requirements?
REALM INC is offering exciting opportunities to help students meet their objectives.
Option 1: Psych Internship designed for the following candidates:
A) Undergraduate students currently enrolled in a college degree program in either Social Work or Psychology working towards AA or BA degree. (Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA).
OR​
B) Students who have obtained a bachelor's degree in one of the following subjects: psychology, social work, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education, or early childhood intervention.
(Option 1 Internships helps college students gain "hands-on" experience working with foster or adopted children with disabilities and trauma backgrounds. It is an awesome addition to your resume).

Option 2: Supervised Clinical Internship- designed for the following candidates:
A) Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee or Associate
B) Associate Clinical Social Worker
C) Associate Professional Clinical Counselor
(Option 2 internships provide clinical supervision hours for licensing purposes. For every 5-10 hours (dependent on experience) you will receive 1 hour of supervision which can be used to meet licensing requirements. Training, education and clinical feedback will be provided).
About the Internships
REALM INC is on a mission to raise up the next generation of therapists, social workers and educators with an enhanced understanding of the diversity and complexity of children with both biological challenges and trauma-based histories. Learn practical and innovative psychological techniques to help you work with children, while learning to master the art of play therapy. Founded in 2007, REALM INC targets children who have been detained in foster care and have journeyed through the complexities of the court system. This internship offers a platform to gain valuable experience working with children with special needs and developmental disabilities including autism, cognitive processing deficiencies, in-utero drug exposure and trauma (including sexual abuse, physical abuse and neglect). Discover how to engage this population in strategic play that fosters growth and healing. Learn practical therapeutic techniques including cognitive behavioral strategies, dyadic therapy and fascinating methods and tools to help build a secure attachment. Learn basic goal setting and treatment planning responsibilities along with documentation skills.

Learn and maintain accurate and confidential client records and progress notes in compliance with ethical and legal standards.

Facilitate community outreach activities to help enhance social skill training.
Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a college degree program in Social Work/Psychology at an accredited university.

If the applicant has a bachelor's degree it must be in one of the following: psychology, social work, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education, or early childhood intervention.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Empathetic and nonjudgmental approach to working with diverse populations.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills.

• Must be willing to travel to community sites.

HOURS: FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE (We can work with student availability)
Standard Schedule:
Weekdays from 5-7pm
Weekends from 8-12pm shift or 12-5/6pm shift
